Deciding which kdrama couples were best is not the same as deciding on the best drama. A drama could be a critical or ratings flop and still feature charismatic actors with plenty of chemistry. Here are a few that made our heart flutter:

1. Lee Min Ho and Park Shin Hye played the tortured rich guy and plucky poor girl in "The Heirs." Although he seemed to have everything, knowing her made him strong enough to take control of his life.

2. Ji Sung and Hwang Jung Eum composed a problematic yet compelling pair in "Secrets." He's not the nicest person when the drama starts and she's not the best at looking out for her own interests. But by the time the drama ends, he has become a much better person and she has learned to stand up for herself.

3. In "The Master's Sun" Gong Hyo Jin sees ghosts and touching So Ji Sub makes them disappear. Shortly after they meet, she begs to sleep with him so the ghosts won't bother her. He refuses but slowly becomes involved in her ghostly world. These two actors create comic genius.

4. Lee Bo Young and Lee Jong Suk in "I Hear Your Voice" seem like a mismatched couple at first but they were linked by fate and oh-so-obviously cared about each other. His desire to protect her, even as a little boy, is touching, but in a rare case of kdrama plotting, she also saves him more than once.

5. Jo In Sung is as a cynical con man in "That Winter The Wind Blows" and the subject of his con is blind heiress Song Hye Kyo. He pretends to care for her, then learns to love her and his cynical heart melts like a snowflake.

6. Park Yoochun and Yoon Eun Hye were childhood sweethearts in "Missing You." They were separated by a traumatic event and his betrayal. He waited 15 years for her and she did all she could to forget him but couldn't. This couple should get the best crying couple award for their tear-stained kisses.

7. Half-gumiho Lee Seung Gi was prepared to sacrifice immortality for Suzy in "Gu Family Book." Although it was his birthright to live forever, he would give it up to spend a mortal life with her.

8. Son Ye Jin and Kim Nam Gil may have the saddest story of this year's kdrama couples. They were childhood sweethearts separated by a murder attempt. But that's not even the most tragic part. It's that his desire for revenge consumes everything, almost obliterating his love for her.

9. Joo Won plays a savant yet socially inept doctor in "Good Doctor." Because of his disability, it's hard for people to accept his skills. But it's also a brave move for Moon Chae Won to love him and accept him for exactly who he is.

10. Lee Jin Wook and Jo Yoon Hee were colleagues in TV news on "Nine." They finally commit to each other and then a trip through time destroys all traces of their relationship. To revive it, he risks his life on more dangerous trips through time.

Each of these couples had something wonderful to offer the romantic world of kdrama.
