In her appearance on Jung Jae Hyung's YouTube channel, the "Kingdom" star revealed that her changing skin tone depends on her emotions, which she considers a great help. Based on her honest opinion, makeup does not really help her when acting.

Bae Doona recalled that her first no-makeup performance in a film was in "Barking Dogs Never Bite," which was Bong Joon Ho's feature film debut in 2000. During that time, the actress was still in her early twenties and was active in commercials and music shows.

However, due to her no makeup acting, Bae Doona lost all her projects due to people claiming she was not that attractive enough. But acting without makeup made her emotionally comfortable.
She honestly said that she didn't have confidence before, but the experience of having no makeup in front of the camera made her more free. Bae Doona felt grateful to have met good directors and had good projects while pursuing acting.
After "Barking Dogs Never Bite," Bae Doona's career as a youth star concluded, but she had truly thrived since then.
Bae Doona Continues to Receive Good Projects in Korea and Abroad
In 2005, she successfully won the Best Actress Award at the Japan Academy Awards for her film "Air Doll." In 2011, she was part of the Wachowski sisters' "Cloud Atlas" also known as "The Matrix" and became her ticket to enter Hollywood.
Bae Doona's international works continued and starred in various projects such as "Jupiter Ascending," Netflix's "Sense8," and "Rebel Moon."
Bae Doona has more than 17 dramas and 21 movies under her belt. Furthermore, she will star in the upcoming film "Virus" alongside Kim Yoon Suk and Zack Snyder.
