LA WEBFEST 2023 Hails Kim Seolhyun Best Lead Actress for Her Performance in 'Summer Strike'
On May 5, K-Drama star Seolhyun gained a proud moment in her acting journey by bringing home the Best Lead Actress award at the LA WEBFEST 2023 for her spectacular performance in "Summer Strike."
LA WEBFEST (Los Angeles Web Service Festival) is one of the first web series events created in 2010. It is the first and largest web series festival based in Long Angeles, California. For this year's celebration, the event ceremony was held last May 4 and 5.
Based on a news cited by a media outlet on May 6, Genie TV's original Korean drama "Summer Strike's" lead star Seolhyun won the Best Actress Award.
To recall, the series received four nominations at the LA Webfest 2023, including Best Director & Scriptwriter, Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Series for Long Form categories.
Seolhyun was able to beat international stars Michole Briana White, Paula Patton, Sylvia Hoeks, and colleague Song Ha Yoon.

"Summer Strike" is a healing-romance K-drama that tells the new journey of a person who declares life strike and leaves her complicated life in the big city. She moves to a small and unknown village in the province for a while. Since then, she starts living a carefree life and taking time to rediscover herself and her new passion.

In the series, Seolhyun plays the character of Lee Yeo Reum, a smart and kind-hearted young woman who lives a complicated life in the city. Unfortunately, after experiencing hardships, she feels discouraged and woeful. She decides to quit her job and moves to a complete remote place to find peace and healing.
LA WEBFEST 2023 Representative Praises Seolhyun's Acting
Meanwhile, a representative from the famous festival shared that Kim Seolhyun's performance as the lead actress in a tranquil scene is natural and appealing.
The Korean star who was honored to receive the big recognition also shared a short message, "I was genuinely happy while living as Yeo Reum. However, I am even happier and more grateful to receive this award. I believe I was able to receive this award because of the actors, staff, and viewers' love and support."
During the drama's press conference in November 2022, Director Lee Yoon Jung revealed that Seolhyun did not wear heavy makeup when filming the series and only applied BB cream on her face. She also only wore 2-3 kinds of clothes all the time.
