IU and Park Seo Joon's movie "Dream" lives up to the hype after the sports theme film reached a new milestone.

After ranking first in reservation rates days after the much awaited premiere, the newly released film surpassed its first million moviegoers.

IU and Park Seo Joon's Movie: 'Dream' Became the 2nd Film to Reach 1 million Moviegoers

According to the media outlet, the distributor of IU and Park Seo Joon's movie, PlusM Entertainment, announced that "Dream" garnered 1,008,877 moviegoers, morning of May 11, just 11 days after it made its big screen premiere.

Besides hitting a new milestone, "Dream" is also the second movie of 2023 to reach over 1 million viewers. The first is "The Point Men," starring Hyun Bin and Hwang Jung Min, which debuted in February.

To celebrate, PlusM Entertainment shared a short clip announcing the movie's achievement, as they thanked the audience and fans for the film's success.

'Dream' Cast and Synopsis

Ahead of the movie's premiere, viewers are thrilled to see the team-up between two superstars, IU and Park Seo Joon.

Finally, after three years of production, due to the setback brought by the global pandemic, fans get to see the duo in one project.

Helmed and written by Lee Byung Hun of "Extreme Job" and "Be Melodramatic," the sports comedy movie depicts the story of an amateur soccer team that will join the international event called the Homeless World Cup.

Park Seo Joon plays Yoon Hong Dae, a once-famous soccer player who is on hiatus after a controversy that almost ended his career.

To bounce back from the slump, Hong Dae was offered to be the head coach of an amateur soccer team. In order for him to revive his sports career, he accepted the offer and became the team's coach.

Interestingly, this is where he meets Lee So Min. The struggling producing director, who was inspired by Hong Dae's team. Because of their unique story, she wants to produce a documentary focusing on their group and their journey to the Homeless World Cup.

Joining IU and Park Seo Joon are Kim Jong Soo, Ko Chang Seok, Jung Seung Kil, and Lee Hyun Woo of "Money Heist: Korea."

On the other hand, IU spoke about his working relationship with Park Seo Joon.

As obtained by a media outlet, the singer-actress said that she has "high expectations" for working with one of Hallyu's sought-after leading men.

She described the "Itaewon Class: star as someone who is "flexible and quick-witted."

Moroever, IU revealed that they get to get along really well and became comfortable with each other once they started the filming.
