"Bloodhounds" director Jason Kim went honest about what happened following Kim Sae Ron's DUI incident.

While lead stars Woo Do Hwan and Lee Sang Yi gained the viewers' attention with their exceptional portrayals and chemistry as Kim Gun Woo and Hong Woo Jin, another cast member that piqued the interest of the public was the actress.

In "Bloodhounds," Kim Sae Ron took on a significant character as she played as Kim Hyeon Joo, the adopted grandaughter of Presdient Choi, played by veteran actor Heo Joon Ho.

In the first part, viewers saw how the actress aced playing her character, who did various action stunts alongside Woo Do Hwan and Lee Sang Yi.

However, as "Bloodhounds" entered its second half, Kim Hyun Joo exited the scene while Jung Da Eun, who played as Mr. Oh's grandaughter, Oh Da Min, joined the duo.

'Bloodhounds' Director Says Some Actors Reduced Screentime Because of Kim Sae Ron

In an interview, obtained by a news outlet, director and screenwriter Jason Kim explained why Kim Sae Ron's character was not completely edited out of the series.

"In order to minimize any inconvenience to our viewers, we stopped production for about a month and wrote from beginning to end," he said, adding, "We had to write about 80 pages within a month to maintain our staff, and expenses were incurred."

In addition, the director also mentioned that Kim Sae Ron was set to appear until the finale episode but was cut short because of the controversy.

Back in 2022, while "Bloodhounds" was busy with the production, news broke that the actress was booked for DUI after crashing her car in an area in Gangnam and causing damage to public property.

Due to this, the actress received major backlash, which left her to withdraw from her upcoming projects, like the SBS K-drama "Trolley."

As for Netflix's "Bloodhounds," it was too late for her to step down because her scenes were almost completed. Unfortunately, some of the cast members had been affected by the incident, causing them to lose their parts.

"Some of the actors who came out with Kim Sae Ron have lost their parts completely," the director revealed, adding, "They probably feel like this is unfair. I tried to take scenes out like this and like that."

As for the "Bloodhounds" director, he "felt bad" for the cast members, but he said that he and Netflix officials tried their best to sort things out.
