Korean Celebrities Banned by Networks

The entertainment industry in South Korea is very strict when it comes to celebrities getting involved in a scandal. From bullying, harassment, and drunk driving, to cheating, drug controversies, and more, broadcast networks are not hesitant to cancel stars.

The same goes for the public who are firm not to support actors, singers, and musicians who are facing negative publicity.

Recently several stars were reportedly suspended from appearing on-screen due to the controversy that they are facing.

From Yoo Ah In to Kim Sae Ron and more, here's a list of Korean celebrities who were banned by the broadcast networks.

Yoo Ah In

In March 17, outlets reported that KBS, one of the leading networks in South Korea, has decided to temporarily suspend the appearance of the actor starting from March 15.

The decision was because of Yoo Ah In's drug scandal after authorities detected four types of drugs in his system which are hemp, propofol, cocaine, and ketamine.

However, it was also revealed that the "Seoul Vibe" star had been using propofol since 2021 and had administered a total of 73 times in the year alone.

Authorities also believe that Yoo Ah In took over a hundred times of propofol until last year.

Currently, the police are actively investigating Yoo Ah In's drug charges and were summoned to appear before the authorities on March 24 for questioning.

As for the consequences, brands removed traces of the award-winning star from endorsement while Yoo Ah In stepped down from his role in Netflix's "Hellbound 2."

Kim Sae Ron

Like Yoo Ah In, Kim Sae Ron is among the recent stars who are facing controversy after she gets involved in a drunk driving incident in 2021.

The former child star rammed her SUV which caused inconvenience in the neighborhood and damage to public properties.

Due to this, she is temporarily suspended from appearing in any shows under KBS.

On the other hand, the Korean actress has decided to withdraw from the upcoming K-drama Trolley and was replaced by Chung Su Bin.

Ha Jung Woo

Among the celebrities who were banned by KBS is Ha Jung Woo.

In 2019, he made headlines after the actor was found guilty for violating Narcotics Control Act after an investigation showed that he illegally administered propofol from January to September 2019 at a plastic surgery clinic in Gangnam, Seoul.

According to a report, the slapped him with a 30 million KRW fine. Due to the drug charges, KBS announced the temporary suspension of Ha Jung Woo from their shows.

Interestingly, the award-winning star bounced back from his slump after his K-drama comeback "Narco-Saints" became a huge success.
