Kim Seon Ho's movie "The Childe" is reaping the rewards of their hard work after garnering huge success globally. 

Following its movie premiere, the action noir film is making it big at the box office.

'The Childe' Scores Big at the Indonesian Box Office, Rotten Tomatoes

In a report cited by a local media outlet, "The Childe" lands as the second-highest Korean film box office history in Indonesia.

With this, the movie directed and written by Park Hoon Jung of the "V.I.P." and "The Witch" series is next to the success of "Parasite" by the renowned director Bong Joon Ho. 

Besides Korea and Indonesia, "The Childe" made its debut in some parts of Asia like the Philippines, Hong Kong, Cambodia, and Thailand. 

From the blockbuster success, Kim Seon Ho's movie garnered overwhelming praise on the American review-aggregation website for film and TV, Rotten Tomatoes. 

Currently, "The Childe" scored 100 percent in the tomato meter, which represents the percentage of positive reviews from professional critics.

Meanwhile, the South Korean movie received 96 percent in the audience score category, which shows the percentage of users who have rated a movie or TV show positively.

According to the comment section, "The Childe" seemed like a "Quentin Tarantino movie with a bit of an assist from John Woo."

Moreover, viewers also mentioned the perfect cast lineup , especially Kim Seon Ho's dynamic acting. 

Why is Kim Seon Ho's Movie 'The Childe' Worth Watching?

Initially released on June 21 in South Korea, "The Childe" stars Kim Seon Ho as the mysterious character known as the nobleman," who goes after the Filipino-Korean amateur boxer Marco, played by Kang Tae Joo.

Besides the duo, the action noir film also stars Go Ah Ra as Yun Jo and Kim Kang Woo as the second-generation chaebol, Director Han.

During the movie's premiere in South Korea, "The Childe" debuted in third place at the box office. 

In a report released by the Korean Film Council (KOFIC), Kim Seon Ho's movie scored a revenue share of 19.93 percent, with sold tickets of 64,918 amounting to $483,183 from 966 screens on its first day alone.

With this, "The Childe" was next to Ma Dong Seok's "The Roundup" at number one, followed by "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse" at number two.

In an interview cited by Korea JoongAng Daily, lead star Kim Seon Ho described his debut movie as "a well-paced and entertaining story."

Although he didn't elaborate much on the movie's premise to avoid spoilers, the actor said what drew him to join the movie was his character.

Moreover, he also expressed how thankful he is to director Park Hoon Jung for continuing to cast him as one of the lead stars despite the controversy.

"Director Park really believed in me, and even immediately after the unfortunate controversy, he told me that he would go forward with me as the titular Childe," he said, adding, "I was grateful for that faith and wanted to embody the character as best as I could."
