‘The Killing Vote’ Episode 1: Park Hae Jin Goes After the Mysterious Masked Man

The latest SBS K-drama, "The Killing Vote," instantly gained the attention of viewers as Lim Ji Yeon, Park Hae Jin, and Park Sung Woong portrayed interesting characters.

The webtoon based K-drama showcases a mysterious incident that occurred in Seoul. As the city fights criminals and perpetrators and prevents any undesired incidents happening in the area, a masked man whom they call Gae Tal sends out an intriguing message.

Helmed by "Trap," and "Suicidal Girl" director Park Shin Woo, Lim Ji Yeon plays Cyber Security Beaureu lieutenant Joo Hyun, who works for the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, meanwhile, Park Hae Jin plays the notorious investigation team leader Kim Moo Chan at the Nambu provincial police agency. He is known for being harsh to the suspects.

Joining as one of the main characters is Park Sung Woong as Kwon Seok Joo, who was imprisoned for killing the perpetrator who assaulted hos daughter.

'The Killing Vote' Viewership

Viewers showed their excitement to see the pilot episode of Lim Ji Yeon's new drama.

In a report, Neilsen Korea recorded an average nationwide rating of 4.1 percent, showing that the newest crime thriller K-drama is off to a good start.

'The Killing Vote' Episode 1 Recap

One of the highlights in "The Killing Vote" episode 1 are the background stories of the main characters.

The season starts with Kwon Seok Joo getting caught in the act by Park Hae Jin, who saw him beating the suspect who sexually harassed his 8-year-old daughter. Though it was not shown in the series, he accepted his fate and was jailed for his actions.

Fast forward to the present time, when Joo Hoon worked with Kim Mu Chan on an entrapment operation. The duo started off on the wrong foot after Joo Hoon saw that Kim Mu Chan planted evidence against the gang leader, who is the man behind illegal live streams.

On the other hand, Kim Mu Chan was assigned to handle a high profile case involving Bae Gi Chul. He illegally sells scandalous videos and makes a ton of money out of it.

However, after getting out of prison, people received a mysterious video message from the masked man. It says that Bae Gi Chul will be executed depending on the vote of the people. All citizens over 18 years old have the right to vote and were given only a few hours to decide whether Gae Tal would execute him or not.

D-day has come to Bae Gi Chul, and witnessed a shocking reality: the masked man tortured him by suffocating him with money. It was after 85 percent of the citizens voted for him to be killed. Shortly after, Gae Tal sends out a video showing the brutal death of Bae Giu Chul.

Since the authorities were surprised by what happened, they instructed Kim Mu Chan to handle the shocking incident. He believes that the masked man will have another target in two weeks and has to figure things out fast.

In the last scene, Joo Hoon handed out a flash drive, which she claimed contained information regarding the mask man.
