Will Ahn Eun Jin Return in ‘My Dearest’ Part 2? Namgoong Min Gives Hint Following Concern With New Female Lead
Namgoong Min indirectly answered the controversy regarding "My Dearest" after viewers seemed unsatisfied with the ending.
On September 2, the historical K-drama aired its finale episode, showcasing the unexpected twist between Lee Jang Hyuk and Yoo Gil Chae, played by Namgoong Min and Ahn Eun Jin.
Viewers were left heartbroken after Yoo Gil Chae continued with the engagement after Officer Goo Won Moo proposed to her. Although the finale episode did not state whether she got married or not, it showed Lee Jang Hyuk leaving the town.
In addition, "My Dearest" ending featured Lee Chung Ah's mysterious character.
In the last scene, Lee Jang Hyun once again encountered the mysterious masked woman whose responsibility is to hunt slaves. Based on episode 10, the character will play a significant role in the upcoming part 2.
With this, viewers speculate that Ahn Eun Jin might be replaced by Lee Chung Ah as the female lead and will be the new love line of Namgoong Min in the upcoming "My Dearest" part 2.
Namgoong Min Hints at What to Expect in 'My Dearest' Episode 2
Following the finale, Namgoong Min took to Instagram to thank viewers for their support.
Along with his line as Lee Jang Hyuk, the top star wrote a heartbreaking message from Jang Hyuk to Yoo Gil Chae.
"You hated me to death the day you left me for eternity. No matter how much I look at it, I don't feel like hating it."
In addition, Namgoong Min mentioned Ahn Eun Jin's character as he teased fans with the upcoming part 2.

"Thank you all for your love, care, and concern. Haha I will return it with a beautiful love story between Jang Hyun and Gil Chae."
In the comments section, viewers expressed their thoughts about the heartbreaking finale and mentioned that they wanted to see Ahn Eun Jin reprising her role as Yoo Gil Chae in the upcoming sequel.
It can be recalled that Lee Chung Ah's character was introduced in the second half of part 1. She plays as prisoner-of-war hunter during Qing's period.
Interestingly, the actress and Namgoong Min have previously worked in two K-dramas. First is the 2020 thriller crime series "Awaken," followed by the hit K-drama "One Dollar Lawyer."
As for Ahn Eun Jin, she first gained the attention of viewers after joining the cast of "Hospital Playlist" as the bubbly Chu Min Ha. After two seasons, she headlined hit series like "The One and Only," followed by "The Good Bad Mother" with Ra Mi Ran and Lee Do Hyun.
Following her performance in "My Dearest," Ahn Eun Jin once again showcased her versatility as an actress.
'My Dearest' Part 2 Release Date
Meanwhile, "My Dearest" part 2 will continue with another 10 episodes.
Since MBC has yet to confirm the official cast joining the sequel, the historical K-drama will return in October.
