Lee Joon Gi Reveals He 'Barely Slept' After Replacing Song Joong Ki in ‘Arthdal Chronicles’ Season 2

Lee Joon Gi Reveals Pressure Being the New 'Arthdal Chronicles 2' Lead Actor
At the press conference of "Arthdal Chronicles" held on September 5 in Seoul, the old and new cast were present at the event. Among them is Lee Joon Gi, the new main protagonist of the series.

During the press con, the actor mentioned that he has always been a fan of writers Kim Young Hyun and Park Sang Yeon's works. He also shared:
"I did wonder why they had not called me. As someone who really likes historical dramas, being offered a project with such a big worldview made me feel pressured."
To recall, in November 2022, it was confirmed that Song Joong Ki, the original lead actor of "Arthdal Chronicles," will be replaced by Lee Joon Gi.
Knowing how big the project and the cast are, the "Again My Life" actor had no other choice but to show his best effort to deliver a great performance.
When he finally got chosen by the writers, Lee Joon Gi was extremely enthusiastic but also started to feel a great mental burden and fear during the table reading.

He was having a dilemma wondering if he could pull off the character well.
The "My Girl" actor confessed that he barely slept until the production completed filming for episode 10.
The K-drama leading man added:
"I was pressured that I even thought that it would be better if I put my life aside and just came to the set."
What to Expect From 'Arthdal Chronicles 2'
"Arthdal Chronicles 2" is scheduled to premiere this September 9 and will be available on the online streaming platform Disney Plus.
The drama tells the myth of Arthdal, written by the owner of the divine sword, and the fateful stories of Tagon, Eun Seom, Tanya, and Tae Alha, who create legends in the land of Arth.
Jang Dong Gun and Kim Ok Vin will reprise their roles as Tagon and Tae Alha. Joining them in Season 2 are Lee Joon Gi and Shin Se Kyung, who will replace Song Joong Ki and Kim Ji Won as Eun Seom/Saya and Tanya.
For his last remark, Lee Joon Gi confessed he wanted to know the relationships between the characters, the dramatic tension of the series as well as the diverse emotions of his character, Eun Seom.
He also shared how happy and honored he is to be part of an epic historical drama and have the chance to portray it in an amazing production setting.
