Namgoong Min Says 'My Dearest' Part 2 Will Showcase 'Beautiful Love Stories Than Part 1'

Namgoong Min teases fans on what to expect in the upcoming "My Dearest" part 1.

After leaving fans with an intriguing cliffhanger, Lee Jang Hyuk vows to return with more colorful stories. 

During the broadcast of the commentary "My Dearest-Part 1: Rewind" where cast, writer and director dishes on the behind the scenes story, the award winning actor hints on the premise of the forthcoming sequel. 

'My Dearest' Writer Planned the Show for 5 Years

In a report cited by a news portal, screnwriter Hwang Jin Young, who also penned "Rebel: Thief Who Stole the People," shared that "My Dearest" was planned for 5 years. 

However, they only started filming the series 9 months ago, and it was announced in January 2023 that Namgoong Min and Ahn Eun Jin will be working for a historical K-drama. 

Interestingly, "My Dearest" was the actor's first period drama in 10 years after "Hur Jun - The Original Story" in 2013. 

Meanwhile, the drama's director, Kim Sung Yong, shared that through the 10-part epsidoe K-drama, they "tried to show viewers how people in that time lived and struggled to survive."

Set in the Joseon Dynasty, "My Dearest" focuses on Lee Jang Hyun, a mysterious warrior who lives in the Neunggeun village at the time of the invasion of Qing. 

There, he met the fearless noblewoman named Yoo Gil Chae, played by Ahn Eun Jin, and was captivated not only by her undeniable charm but also by her will to survive amid the chaos.

Joining the duo as lead stars are Lee Da In as Lady Kyung Eun Ae,Gil Chae's close friend and the wife of Nam Yeon Jun, played by Lee Hak Joo.

In addition, Kim Yoon Woo portrays Lee Hak Jun's close ally and right hand, Ryang Eum.

Premiered on August 4, the MBC series wrapped up part 1 on September 2, with a successful viewership rating. 

Interestingly, "My Dearest" will return to the small screen in October. 

Namgoong Min on the Upcoming 'My Dearest' Part 2

Speaking of the highly anticipated continuation of the historical series, Namgoong Min teased viewers with a hint about the show's part 2. 

According to the actor, viewers could expect more romance and unforgettable stories as compared to the first part.

"I hope Part 2 starts airing soon. It will have more interesting and beautiful love stories than Part 1," he said, adding, "I just want to tell you about them right away. Please wait a little bit, and I promise that Part 2 won't disappoint you."

Moreover, fellow co-star Ahn Eun Jin supported Namgoong Min's revelation and said fans will get to watch the series "soon."

Adding to this, the actress also mentioned that they "worked very hard on the set" and that the "love and support" from the public gave them "strength to continue filming. 

It can be recalled that "My Dearest" part 2 raised speculations that Ahn Eun Jin might be replaced by Lee Chung Ah as the main female lead after the latter's character appeared in the finale. However, Namgoong Min put rumors to rest and explained that Ahn Eun Jin will remain part of the sequel.
