The upcoming historical K-drama "The Love Story of Chunhwa" will have a new female lead. In an exclusive report cited by a local media outlet, the romance period drama selected Go Ara as the female lead, replacing Go Ah Sung.

Following the announcement of the drama's cast lineup, Go Ah Sung stepped down from her role, making Go Ara join as one of the main characters.

Go Ah Sung Withdraws from 'The Love Story of Chunhwa'

As mentioned by the news outlet, a broadcasting official confirmed the actress' withdrawal from the new TVING drama.

The said absence was because of Go Ah Sung's health, due to an injury. Following this, officials have selected another actress as her replacement to play the role of Grand Princess Hwari.

"Go Ara has confirmed her appearance in the vacant spot and is preparing to film."

It can be recalled that TVING unveiled the list of stars joining the upcoming TVING series.

On August 8, the network announced that SF9's Chani, Han Seung Yeon, and Son Woo Hyun will join Go Ah Sung and Jang Ryul in the upcoming K-drama, sparking excitement among viewers.

Helmed by "No, Thank You" director Lee Kwang Young, "The Love Story of Chunhwa" is a period drama that depicts the story of a princess who is looking for the right person to marry instead of the one that her family has chosen for her.

While Princess Hwa Ri is played by Go Ara, Jang Ryul takes on the character of Choi Hwan, one of the family's chosen candidates to be her husband.

However, Princess Hwa Ri doubts Jang Ryul because of his playboy aura.

Meanwhile, the upcoming period drama is set to join a list of K-dramas premiering in 2024.

Go Ara Filmography

With Go Ara taking on the new role in "The Love Story of Chunhwa," this will be her comeback to the small screen after the 2020 K-drama "Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol" with Lee Jae Wook.

However, she recently made headlines after playing a mysterious character, Yun Ju, in the hit film "The Childe," along with Kim Seon Ho, Kang Tae Joo, and Kim Kang Woo.

In a previous interview, she mentioned how she had a great time filming the movie.

"I enjoyed filming because it was a genre and character I had never presented before."

According to the actress, every part of "The Childe" was depicted vividly, from script to visuals.

"The Childe" officially hit the big screen on June 21 and also premiered in various countries like the USA, Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia, East Timor, and more.
