Gong Yoo gets honest about the emotions he felt at the height of the hit K-drama "Goblin."

It's been 7 years since the rom-com fantasy series premiered and made the viewers' hearts swoon with the characters of Kim Shin, a.k.a. the goblin, and the goblin's bride, Ji Eun Tak, played by Kim Go Eun.

During his appearance in "Pinggyego" for the Chuseok holiday special, the South Korean heathrob confessed about the mixed emotions he felt at the time.

As mentioned by a media outlet, the top star can't explain or figure out what caused him to feel anxious but clarified that he was grateful for the huge success of the series.

"For example, 'Goblin' did very well, but I wasn't happy," he said, explaining the reason behind it. "I was happy it did well, but apart from that, there was a time when I felt so empty and I couldn't wake myself up."

The actor furthered that it wasn't because the work was hard or that the series didn't go well, but he admitted that he "wasn't able to enjoy the spotlight when projects were a success."

Unfortunately, he couldn't explain the emptiness he felt at the time and admitted that it wasn't easy to open up such a vague feeling to the public.

"It should be a time when other people would be so happy they feel like they're floating in the clouds, but if I say that my heart felt strange, it feels like I'm not grateful," he explained.

Considering it as one of his "hard times," Gong Yoo said that it did change the way he sees people.

It seemed like the actor had overcome the feeling as he looked back at one of the darkest, or rather confusing, times of his life.
