Rowoon's newest drama "The Matchmakers" debuted with a good viewership, and even surpassed "Destined With You's" pilot episode rating.

'The Matchmakers' Records Higher Ratings Than 'Destined With You'

Rowoon is back with another series, "The Matchmakers." The drama's pilot episode, which aired on October 30, recorded an average rating of 4.5 percent.

It has been said that "The Matchmakers" episode 1 surpassed "Destined With You's" pilot episode, which garnered a score of 2.9 percent.

Adding to their interest is that the drama is led by idol-actor Rowoon. From being a genius lawyer, who got cursed due to a forbidden book, Rowoon made a big character transformation in his newly-debuted drama and became a matchmaker.

His transition also showcased his wide range of acting as he also tried to focus on the comedic side of the historical drama. He mentioned in a media interview that comedy is one of the hardest genres to work on, and Rowoon has the strong will to build a new image in front of the crowd.

"The Matchmakers" depicts the story of young widower Shim Jung Woo and young widow Jung Soon Deok as well as their struggle as they join forces to marry off Joseon era's unmarried women and men who are considered older than the typical prime age range.

Rowoon collaborates for the first time with breakout star and formerly dubbed "monster rookie" Cho Yi Hyun in this project. As they finally met the viewers during the drama's first episode, their chemistry already received explosive response.

'The Matchmakers' Episode 1 Highlights

In the series, Shim Jung Woo, a nobleman, is forbidden to remarry or land a civil job, despite his credibility to pass the test, people around him control his actions after he loses his wife. Even though everyone was opposed to him, Jung Woo chose to become a matchmaker. He then seeks help from the best matchmaker in town, Mrs. Yeo Joo.

Cho Yi Hyun is living a double life in this series which adds tension and interest in the narrative. Jung Soon Deok and Shim Jung Woo's unexpected meeting turned into a hilarious meet-up, giving the viewers a good laugh on the drama's pilot episode.

Furthermore, many are looking forward to seeing more of Rowoon and Cho Yi Hyun's bickering moments in the series. Viewers are also excited about how their romance will evolve in the upcoming episodes.
