"The Killing Vote" gave viewers a reason to look forward after delivering a cliff-hanging ending.

Headlined by Lim Ji Yeon, Park Sung Woong, and Park Hae Jin, it is a webtoon-based K-drama that focuses on the mysterious masked man named Gaetal and his mission to punish criminals.

Initially released on August 10, the first season has a total of 12 episodes with a broadcast date of once a week, airing every Wednesday.

Viewers get to watch "The Killing Vote" through SBS, while global viewers can stream it via Prime Video and Wavve.

Starting with an impressive rating of 4.1 percent, the webtoon-based K-drama failed to sustain high viewership after dipping to 3.1 percent during its finale episode.

Although the SBS series didn't do well in terms of K-dramas, viewers are curious if the mystery crime series will continue with a sequel through "The Killing Vote" season 2.

'The Killing Vote' Season 1 Cast

The weekday K-drama boasts an amazing cast lineup, starting off with Park Hae Jin, who played detective Kim Moo Chan. He is in charge of handling the case related to Gaetal.

Working alongside Moo Chan is Joo Hyun, played by Lim Ji Yeon.

Since Gaetal's way of deciding the future of his next target is through technology, the police worked hand in hand with Joo Hyun's team, who is the head of the cybercrime division.

Meanwhile, Park Sung Woong takes on the role of Professor Kwon Seok Joo.

He is convicted of murder after killing the alleged murderer, who is the suspect in her daughter's case.

Seok Joo's life changed when his 8-year-old daughter was killed by his neighbor, and he didn't get the justice he deserved.

So as a way to cope with his daughter's death, he planned to organize the killing vote.

Will 'The Killing Vote' Return With Season 2?

As seen in "The Killing Vote" ending, viewers witnessed a cliffhanger after police declared that Gaetal was closed.

However, the twist and turn of the story illustrate when Park Moo wears the gaetal mask, along with Kwon Seok Joo narrating, "I don't know who it will be, but there will be another gaetal."

This scene hints that the killing vote will still continue, and it will still be Seok Joo or a new Gaetal.

With this, there's a possibility that SBS will release "The Killing Vote" season 2, but as of this writing, drama officials and broadcast network representatives are yet to confirm if the webtoon drama will be renewed or not.

However, fans are hoping that the mystery drama will return for season 2, given that the first season delivered an open-ended story.
