From action to romance and rom-coms, the 36-year-old actor never fails to impress viewers with his variety of characters while at the same time headlining different kinds of K-drama.

With this, Ji Chang Wook becomes the unofficial "King of Rom-Com" after landing successful projects in the romantic-comedy genres.

Ji Chang Wook Feels 'Embarrassed' With His New Title-Here's Why

The South Korean heartthrob graced the stage with Shin Hye Sun as they star in the upcoming K-drama "Welcome to Samdalri."

Returning from an action-packed series in Disney+'s "The Worst of Evil," Ji Chang Wook delivers a different kind of character as he takes on the role of Jo Yong Pil.

With the drama's romantic-comedy premise, others dubbed this Ji Chang Wook's return as "king of rom-com." However, it seemed like he was hesitant to fully accept the nickname.

As mentioned by a local news outlet, he felt "embarrassed" after learning about this.

Moreover, he also shared how his co-star would react whenever she heard this.

"Every time we talk about the romantic comedy, Hye Sun laughs so much that it's embarrassing," he said.

Ji Chang Wook also mentioned how Shin Hye Dun jokingly reacts, saying that she has never been a romantic comedy queen while her co-star is being called by such a title.

"I tried hard to become a queen worthy of the romantic comedy king," said Shin Hye Sun, as the actor recalled.

'Welcome to Samdalri' Release Date, Cast, and What to Expect

Ji Chang Wook's new drama is directed by Cha Young Hoon of "When the Camellia Blooms" and penned by Kwon Hye Joo of "Go Back Couple" and "Hi Bye, Mama! ."

The romance series depicts the story of Jo Yong Pil, played by Ji Chang Wook. He is a man who remained in his hometown, Jeju Island.

Years later, he then crosses paths with Ji Sam Dal, his childhood friend played by Shin Hye Sun. 

Unlike Yong Pil, who is content with his life in their hometown, Sam Dal has a dream to get out of her hometown and work as a photographer in the big city.

Slated to premiere on December 2 at 10:30 p.m. KST viewers could watch "Welcome to Samdalri" through JTBC, TVING, and Netflix for global viewers. Ji Chang Wook's drama airs every Saturday and Sunday.

As mentioned in a report, the production team hints at what to expect in the upcoming romance series.

"For the people that have been busily racing ahead this year without a chance to catch their breath, we hope that you'll be able to recharge for a moment at the end of this year by catching your breath together with Yong Pil and Sam Dal through 'Welcome to Samdalri.'"
