Park Seo Joon Reveals Receiving Advice to Have Plastic Surgery: ‘Is this not my path?’

Park Seo Joon revealed the truth behind his journey during his rookie days and how he ended up receiving advice to have plastic surgery.

On December 13, Park Seo Joon made his debut in the popular Korean variety talk show "Yoo Quiz on the Block." The celebrity finally met Yoo Jae Suk, who he had been wishing to work with.

As the program began, Yoo Jae Suk asked the "Itaewon Class" star about his real name. The K-drama actor revealed that his original name was Yong Gyu.

Jo Se Ho, on the other hand, made a follow-up question on when he started using a stage name.

Park Seo Joon shared, "Since I was young, I had complexes about my face and was quite shy. I was even unable to order at a restaurant."

The actor further disclosed that during his high school years, talking about his name made him uncomfortable.

He added, "When thinking about my debut, I visited a naming service. Honestly, at first, it was hard for me to even say my own name, so they suggested changing it to something more commonly used."

Park Seo Joon Confesses Receiving Advice to Have Plastic Surgery

Aside from his name, the next thing that Park Seo Joon had a hard time dealing with was his debut preparation. He encountered challenges, in particular, in his physical appearance.

"My eyes were my biggest insecurity. I faced criticism when debuting, as it was tough for me. At that time, people preferred those with more distinct features than mine."

After hearing this, Yoo Jae Suk commented, "That's too harsh." And the "Fight for My Way" star continued by revealing that he even received advice to undergo plastic surgery.

"I received advice for plastic surgery before which made me wonder, 'Did I make a mistake? Is this not my path?' It was challenging to invest in an uncertain future and endure the hardships. But as years passed by and as I persevered, good opportunities came, and it seemed worthwhile."

Meanwhile, Park Seo Joon is returning to Netflix this December with "Gyeongseong Creature." This will be his first drama project after three years since "Itaewon Class."

The heartthrob also shared some behind-the-scenes stories of his journey in Hollywood as he made his debut in the American film "The Marvels."
