The actor expressed his gratitude to his loyal supporters, and promised to return with greater works in the future. Here's what's next for the Hallyu star.

Lee Dong Hwi Named Best Actor of the Year

On December 14, the 8th edition of the Asia Artist Awards finally named the stars that shined the most in the past year.

Alongside the artists that received great recognition, Lee Dong Hwi bagged the Best Actor Award for his impeccable performance in the cinema masterpiece "Big Bet."

The drama was one of the most watched series this 2023, and recorded rave reviews among fans around the globe.

Lee Dong Hwi expressed his gratitude to his fans and supporters who showed their affection for the actor. He also thanked the heartwarming nature of the Filipinos, the host of 2023 Asia Artist Awards.

"If not because of you, there's no "Big Bet" in Hallyu today," the actor said. "The Philippines feels like a hometown for me."

To recall, Lee Dong Hwi and the "Big Bet" team shot the drama in the Philippines for more than two months last year. It even starred Filipino stars Nico Antonio, Bembol Roco and Epy Quizon.

Lee Dong Hwi made a resounding promise to return with greater works in the future to showcase his eternal gratitude to his fans.

On the other hand, Ahn Hyo Seop, Kim Sejeong and Lee Joon Hyuk were also awarded as AAA Best Actor.


Lee Dong Hwi's 'Dr. Cheon and Lost Talisman,' More Works This 2024

Earlier this year, Lee Dong Hwi returned to the silver screen with the mystery film "Dr. Cheon and Lost Talisman."

The film received great reviews from the viewers during its premiere in September. At the moment, he is preparing for his upcoming films "Mora-dong" and "The Roundup: Punishment."

Lee Dong Hwi is also busy filming his comeback drama "Chief Inspector: The Beginning" with Lee Je Hoon, which follows a detective that is furious at the reality of human dignity being violated.

It's directed by "Confidential Assignment" director Kim Sung Hoon, and it will air some time in early 2024 on MBC TV. Stay tuned for more updates.
