Kang Hye Won Shares Affection For 'Boyhood' Role

Earlier this month, Kang Hye Won once again graced prime time with Coupang Play's brand new series "Boyhood."

Alongside big stars Im Siwan, Lee Sun Bin and Lee Si Woo, the idol-actress proved her skills as a rising star through the comedy drama.

In the show, Kang Hye Won takes on the role of Kang Sun Hwa, the most beautiful girl at Buyeo Girls' High School in the '80s.

It marks her newest terrestrial acting role, following her debut last year. According to Kang Hye Won, she paid attention to her character's appearance and outfits.

"Since my character is an icon of beauty, I discussed with the stylists the visions I have for her look in every scene," the idol-actress shared.

She also showed her dedication for her role by seeking advice from the director. Kang Hye Won said, "I made a lot of effort in portraying Kang Sun Hwa."

Thankfully, the public received her transformation well, praising the artist for her improved skills and great choice of acting project.

On the other hand, "Boyhood" depicts the story of a weak young man who becomes the strongest fighter in his neighborhood overnight. It airs every Friday at 8:00 p.m. KST on Coupang Play.

Kang Hye Won Reveals Career Plan

With her comeback to the acting scene, many grew curious about her plans for her career.

Kang Hye Won expressed her gratitude to her supporters, saying that her transition into acting was the "best decision" she has made so far.

Although she didn't originally dream of becoming an actress, she gradually fell in love with the profession, and is now ready to take on more challenges if given the opportunity.

"As an actress, I am able to make viewers feel various emotions through my acting," she said. "It gives me the motivation to work harder with a sincere heart."

At the moment, she affirmed that she has no plans for singing activities. However, she doesn't close the doors for future idol activities either.

She thanked her former IZ*ONE members who supported her K-drama "Boyhood," and for being a part of her "youth" as an idol.

Furthermore, Kang Hye Won also expressed her desire to try on doing a comical drama that brings comfort and entertainment to viewers.
