There is a controversy surrounding the ongoing K-drama Love Next Door due to its original soundtrack, "What Are We," being accused of plagiarism.
Netizens recently began analyzing the song when they discovered it sounds similar to the original song "0310" by Baek Yerin, released in 2019.
The singer of the original track is Ha Sung Woon, who released the OST in September and did not expect it to be compared and accused of plagiarism only a few weeks after the release.
As a result, Baek Yerin went on Instagram to express her disappointment at this situation, which added to the controversy.
In response to the accusations, Ha Sung Woon's agency, Big Planet Made Entertainment, released a statement regarding the singer's involvement or lack thereof in writing the song.
According to it, Ha Sung Woon did not contribute to the creation of "What Are We" in any shape or form. He only provided the vocal performance, and his primary contribution to the OST was singing, unlike the accusations that he composed the song and wrote the lyrics.
"Ha Sung Woon and Big Planet Made Entertainment were only commissioned by the drama's OST production company to participate as singers and were not involved in writing the lyrics, composing, or arranging 'What Are We.'
However, we apologize that the OST sung by Ha Sung Woon was embroiled in a plagiarism controversy that caused concern to fans. It is staged with the expectation that it will be resolved between Baek Yerin and the OST production company," the statement said.
Baek Yerin and the OST production team have not yet provided a statement.
