As per AllKpop, the person identified as simply "A," is a model and supporting actor who has an available online profile that can be found via Korean search sites. The authorities claim "A" served as the recruiter, misleading the women into going overseas under the false hope of work before selling them into labor.

According to Nate, the ordeal started last year in April when a woman in her 30s, known as "B," went to Phnom Penh, Cambodia. A had instructed her that he required a Japanese interpreter. Upon arrival, she was allegedly turned over to a criminal network for 5 million KRW, or about 3,500 USD.

The report went on with the account of "B's" ordeal. The Dong-A Ilbo reported that "B" was kept in captivity for a month and made to participate in adult shows. She also suffered repeated beatings whenever she was unable to meet the quota of earnings set by her captors.

The source painted the picture of how B was rescued by her family in dramatic scenes. "he was fortunately rescued by her family," the report said.

"B" subsequently gave evidence regarding the degrading conditions within the compound. In an objective account of her testimony, B stated she could hear "screams for help" emanating from adjacent rooms, with concerns that other Korean women may have been trafficked by the same group.

The probe has since widened to establish the entire scope of the trafficking ring operations and determine potential accomplices. Police confirmed that "A "has been questioned, with the authorities pinning their hopes on links between Korean recruiters and Cambodian organized gangs.

The incident angered South Korean netizens, with most calling for the government to provide stronger overseas protection for citizens and impose stricter punishment for traffickers who lure people under the guise of job opportunities.

To date, Cambodian and Korean authorities remain in cooperation with each other to discover more victims and prosecute all people involved in the case.
