Koreaboo reported that Woo died on January 16. The news spread fast through the entertainment industry, blindsiding many who admired how he kept working through his health problems. His final Instagram post, shared about two weeks before his death, has become something people keep coming back to as they mourn.

In that post, Woo talked openly about the everyday reality of being sick. He wrote, "I spent all day debating whether to shave my head, even charged up the clippers and posted in the family group chat that I was going to do it. Then my younger sister scolded me, so I changed my mind and just cut off my ponytail instead."

He went on, describing how he finished his day:"After my little DIY haircut, I wrapped up the day by making what I thought was a nourishing meal — bean sprouts with dried pollack and sea squirt — to take care of my body." He concluded with a note of self-encouragement, adding, "I really need to take better care of myself. Get it together, Chang Soo."

Woo had talked before about his health struggles. Back in April 2023, according to Naver, he shared that a thorough checkup led to more tests at a big university hospital. Even then, he sounded determined and hopeful.

He explained, "The results from an expensive comprehensive health checkup came back, and I was referred for detailed examinations at a major university hospital." He followed this with reassurance directed at supporters: "I'll get proper treatment and make a great comeback. Stay healthy."

That comeback never happened; Woo Chang Soo built his career on the stage, in musicals and plays like "Welcome to My World," "Face Off," and "Friends." He never became a huge TV star, but inside the performing arts community, people really respected his steady, passionate dedication to his craft.
