A recent fan sign event organized by actor Park Bo Gum has caused a stir online, with many K-pop fans expressing their shock and admiration at how the event was organized. This is not the first time that there have been issues with fan sign events for idols.

The recent fan sign events organized by Park for 2026 Season's Greetings have also gained attention due to the fact that fans have observed a marked difference from the usual K-pop idol fan sign events. In typical fan sign events for idols, fans are chosen based on the number of albums they buy, leading to a cut-off number that is extremely high.
As Koreaboo reported, the actor limited the number of albums that could be purchased per person to three, thereby ensuring that fans could not purchase a large number of albums to gain an advantage. Additionally, 200 fans were chosen for each event.
Adding a fan reaction from social media, one fan wrote, "There's no fan sign cut-off because there's a limit of 3 purchases per person. I want to buy a lot, but I can't. And on top of that, they're hiring 200 people each time... the crazy person...." The fan reaction highlighted that fans who wanted to purchase more albums were unable to because of the purchase limit.

The same discussion continued with a question-and-answer format circulated online and later shared by Koreabothe outlet. A question arose a fan wrote, "Question: I've come over to the actor's fandom after being an idol fan, and I was curious if his fan sign cutline really high?"
Responding to the inquiry, another fan explained, "Answer: A fan sign cut-off doesn't really exist, since there is a limit of 3 per person, so you can't buy a lot even if you wanted to. Plus, they are selecting 200 people...crazy."
Further details emerged as fans reviewed official guidelines, which showed that Park also applied purchase limits to international fan signs. According to Koreaboo, 200 people were selected per city, bringing the total number of participants to around 1,600.

As the conversation spread to Korean online communities such as theqoo, K-pop fans began openly calling for idol agencies to adopt similar systems. Introducing one such reaction, a user wrote, "We need the Park Bo Gum system implemented now"
Another commenter echoed the sentiment, saying, "This needs to be executed in K-Pop immediately." A separate post added, "This is crazy. Idols need to learn from this." underscoring frustration with current idol fan sign practices.
The overwhelming response reflects a broader desire among fans for fairer access to fan events. While Park Bo Gum's system was designed for his own events, many fans now see it as a potential model for the K-pop industry moving forward.
