Oh Yoon Ah Breaks Down While Talking About Raising Her Autistic Son: 'There Were Days I Couldn't Breathe'

Recently, the case of actress Oh Yoon Ah, in her words, regarding her experiences of raising her disabled son, Song Min, came to light through a recent video that highlighted the happy occasion of a significant milestone in her life with her disabled son.

On Jan. 23, Oh uploaded a video titled "Graduation Ceremony at Milal School for Students With Developmental Disabilities" on her official channel, oh, YoonaTV. In this video which is gone private, the actress is seen attending her son Song Min's graduation, accompanied by her mother and sister. As she watched her son receive his certificate, Oh reminisced about all they had been through together.

During the video, Song Oh's sister talked about the difficulty encountered by Song Min during his childhood. While sharing her recollection, Song Oh's sister stated, "When Min was seven, he once bit a stranger while walking down the street."

Oh then added another personal experience from later years, explaining, "When he was in his second year of high school, we went to an amusement park, and he grabbed a passing girl by the hair. I had to apologize, and later I was contacted and compensated her financially."

Her sister acknowledged the situation, responding, "That goes without saying." The exchange highlighted the challenges Oh faced while managing unexpected situations in public, as reported by AllKpop.

Oh also revisited memories from her appearance on the variety program "Stars' Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant." Before sharing her thoughts, she noted how much her son has changed over time. "Min is much calmer now compared to when we were filming Fun-Staurant. At least now, I don't have to worry about my clothes getting torn," she said.

Oh then elaborated on the filming experience, recalling, "Back then, all the writers' clothes were torn. Writer Sumin even had her hair pulled." She laughed as she revisited the awkward and stressful moments.

Looking toward the future, Oh expressed her hopes for her son's independence and sense of responsibility. Introducing her thoughts with a reflective tone, she said, "When Min starts earning a salary, he should donate. If he gets a job, I want him to give a scholarship to his school." Her comments underscored her desire for Song Min to give back to the community that supported him.

According to The Chosun Daily, Oh Yoon Ah has continued to speak openly about raising her son while balancing her career in entertainment. She married a non-celebrity in 2007 and gave birth to Song Min later that year. The couple divorced in 2015, after which Oh has raised her son as a single mother while remaining active through television programs and her personal YouTube channel.
