Choi Jin Hyuk Wanted To Quit Acting Before “Gu Family Book”

Despite being one of the most sought after actors of his generation, Choi Jin Hyuk admitted that there was a time when he wanted to quit acting.

In an interview with enews, he shared the hardships he encountered from his debut as an actor to his current project, "I really went through an intense period of heartbreaks because of acting."

"I got yelled at every day from my debut to five years after. I was scolded because of my acting and because of the way I speak informally. It was difficult and I cried alone because of the stress. Because of this, I thought about quitting acting many times," he admitted.

After years of trying, he finally got his big break with his role in the drama "Gu Family Book". He exerted his all for the drama, and received success with his nine-tailed fox character. He was able to score better roles and gained immense recognition for his acting.

He was cast in hit dramas "The Heirs" and "Emergency Couple", and the rest is history.

For his future projects, he said, "I want to participate in OST recording for my future dramas if the opportunity presents itself. I also want to meet the fans through better and improved roles in the future."

Choi Jin Hyuk is currently working on his cameo role in the upcoming tvN drama "Grandpa Investigation Team" as the young Lee Soon Jae.
