Cannes Film Festival 2014: Movie Lineup Showcases Female Talent This Year, Jurors Are Announced As Diverse Selection Creates Buzz

Details of the 2014 Cannes Film Festival have begun to surface.

The Hollywood Reporter has reported that the jury lineup for the 2014 Cannes Film Festival have been announced Monday morning.

The selection of jurors for this year has been creating quite a bit of buzz due to its diversity. The majority of them are also female.

The lineup includes director Sofia Coppola and actor Willem Dafoe, who will be representing the U.S.

Other jurors include French actress Carole Bouquet, South Korean actress Do-yeon Jeon, Iranian actress Leila Hatami, actor Gael Garcia Bernal, Chinese director Zhangke Jia and Danish director Nicolas Winding Refn.

Indiewire has reported that out of the 49 films selected, five are made by first-time directors while 15 female directors are to present their movies. 

It has been reported that Olivier Dahan's "Grace of Monaco," starring Nicole Kidman will open the event.

The 2014 Cannes Film Festival runs from May 14 to May 25. The closing ceremony and awards are to be handed out May 24.
