"Sherlock" actor Benedict Cumberbatch earned Anna Wintour's seal of approval as Glamour's Sexiest Actor Alive. Meanwhile, Cumberbatch got cozy with "Fifty Shades of Grey" cast Dakota Johnson at the Met Gala which continued on with a casual date the day after.

In an interview with Seth Myers in his "Late Night" show, co-organizers Vogue editor Anna Wintour and Sara Jessica Parker ("Sex in the City"), weighed in on how the celebrities dressed for the white-tie themed gala.

Anna Wintour said that "Sherlock" actor Benedict Cumberbatch "nailed it."

To which, Sara Jessica Parker chimed in: "I told him, 'You brought a little bit of class.' He elevated the evening."

Vogue editor Anna Wintour also revealed that they chose white tie as this year's theme in order to force the men into putting more thought about what they are going to wear, in the tradition of the 1950s when high-profile affairs typically demand a white tie.

"I had no idea into how much panic this would make the men of New York and all over the world think about their outfits," she said.

This year's Met Gala draw A-list celebrities, politicians and philanthropists and raised $12 million. In the 16 years that the annual charity event is running, it has raised a total of $125 million, according to Mail Online.
