"Trot Lovers" is lining up an impressive cast. And according to KBS, the latest addition is actor Shin Sung Rok, whorecently  attracted interest when he played the evil Lee Jae Kyung in "You Who Came From The Stars."

Although some viewers only know him as Park Hae Jin's evil older brother, Shin Sung Rok can sing and dance. He is a ten-year veteran of musicals and films. In "Trot Lovers," he will play a charming businessman named Cho Geun Woo, who takes over his father's talent agency.

According to a representative of the "Trot Lovers" production company, Shin Sung Rok will surprise viewers by presenting a whole new side of himself when he plays Cho Geun Woo

"Trot Lovers" will also star actor Ji Hyun Woo in his first drama after finishing his two-year military duty. The actor had barely finished starring as a time-traveling nobleman in "Queen Inhyun's Man" when he enlisted and he was besieged with drama offers before his two years was up.

Barely a day after he finished his tour of duty, he agreed to be in "Trot Lovers." He will play Jang Joon Hyun, a musician who is a genius and arrogant enough to know as much.

The director Lee Jae Sang wanted Ji Hyun Woo for the role because the actor can act and sing and he also looks the part. But even more importantly he's an actor who is known for becoming one with his character. And Ji Hyun Woo wanted the part as much as the director wanted to cast him.

"After completing his military service, Ji Hyun Woo's affection for the role is special," said a representative of the drama's production company.

One more role is yet to be cast iand it's the part of Choi Choon Hee, the woman who Shin Sung Rok and Ji Hyun Woo will fight for. She's a young woman with a talent for trot and she turns to Ji Hyun Woo to help her become a great trot singer. Cho Geun Woo will sign her to his agency

IU, last seen in "Pretty Man" has been considering the role. A production company representative told Ilgan Sports that she received the offer and that there is a good chance she will be cast.

"IU played the character of a female high school student with singing ability in 'Dream High.' The character suits her."

But KBS said that she is not the only actress that has received a script.

What is trot, you may well ask? Trot or teuroteu is a genre of Korean pop music with a distinctive background rhythm. It first became popular in the early 1900s during the time Japan ruled Korea, but has Japanese, Western and Korean musical elements. The name is short for foxtrot, a ballroom dance.
