Technology News WWDC 2014 focused around hardware more than software. Apple was expected to release more news about iBeacon technology at the World Wide Developer's Conference 2014. Apart from new details, Apple Inc will place iBeacon transmitters across Moscone Center and offer assistance about how developers can use the iBeacon technology and services.

Apple could be eyeing a more robust role for iBeacon with the iOS system along with new collaborations and partnerships. The mobile payment service is something Apple would also like to try out with iBeacons integration.

The iBeacon technology was first introduced at the WWDC 2013 and the technology is about allowing iOS devices to communicate wirelessly via Bluetooth. Recently, Apple introduced a new ibeacon 'made for iPhone' in February. And this signals a more prominent role for iBeacon in Apple's devices.

Currently,iBeacon is used by companies in a variety of ways. Shopkick, a shopping app and Macy's collaborated on integrating the technology at stores. Simillarly, Major League BAsesball and the National Basketball Association have also taken advantage of the technology.

The Cupertino, Califronia firm has also incorporated iBeacons to its retail destinations to pick up online orders.
