Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder dating rumors are said to be publicity stunts of "The Vampire Diaries" actor's new movie "The Anomaly."

In a report from Celebrity Laundry, it is possible that the emerging rumors on Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder dating are just for publicity as the actor hits the promotional period of his new movie.

"The Anomaly" is not "the type of movie that's going to set the box office on fire," the report said.

It added, "Honestly, this isn't even the type of movie to make a small dent in the box office, and a large part of that is because it has no name draws."

Ian Somerhalder's new movie "The Anomaly" also stars Noel Clarke, Brian Cox, and Luke Hemsworth,

The report added, "As much as people want to think of Ian as a selling point, he just doesn't have the fan base required to open a movie."

Celebrity Laundry also noted that Ian Somerhalder heats up the news in tabloid when the issue has something to do with his ex-girlfriend and "The Vampire Diaries" co-star Nina Dobrev.

"If he really wants to get people to come see the movie, perhaps he should just use his relationship with Nina as his trump card," Celebrity Laundry suggested saying that most of Ian Somerhlader's fan base were from "The Vampire Diaries."

Adding to the Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder dating rumors is "The Roommate" actress' mother, Michaela Constantine, who has been very active in supporting the ex-boyfriend of her daughter.

Michaela Constantine has tweeted support for Ian Somerhalder's speech for Congress for animal and environmental rights, the Wet Paintreported.

"Ian will be testifying in front of Congress at 2p.m.EST. He'll tweet the streaming info, as soon as he gets it, so stay tuned," she tweeted.
