Blackberry Messenger Coming to Windows Phones; BB Chat, Contacts and Feeds To Adapt Windows Phone Interface; BBM Still in Beta Version, Available For Download on Official Launch

The Blackberry Messenger, or BBM, will soon be available on Windows Phone, although the app is still in the beta stage for now.

In a blog post written by Jeff Gadway on INSIDE Blackberry, the company's official blog, Blackberry Messenger (BBM) "will welcome millions of Windows Phone users to the growing BBM community."

BBM for Windows Phone currently has the basic features unique to app such as contacts, feeds and chat, while it offers users to share files such as images, audio, contacts and location to their BBM contacts.

Blackberry promises to add more features in the succeeding updates, such as stickers, BBM Voice, BBM Channels and Glympse location sharing.

The BBM for Windows Phone offers chat messaging in singles or groups. Blackberry made sure that contacts, whether an individual or group contact will all be arranged in just one place, or what they call BBM Groups.

In addition to this, contacts included in a group can share and talk about shared pictures, calendars and lists. Users are also allowed to pin a particular contact on the start screen of the BBM app for easier access to the contact. Once the user click the name, he will be directed to a single chat window where he can immediately send a message to the BBM contact.

Blackberry also announces that it will adapt the user interface of Windows Phone to let users "sign in, sign up and add BBM contacts" easily. "When it comes to design, we've heard users asking for a native experience that matches the experience they're accustomed to on their phone," Gadway said in the blog post.

But the BBM app is not available just yet, and is only available in private beta version. A waitlist was set up, though, for those who are interested to try it out prior to the official launch of BBM in the Windows Phone store.
