Crash Bandicoot, the popular video game in the 90s, may arrive in latest Playstation consoles sooner than later as Sony is planning to revive some of its popular characters that propelled Playstation to become the choice gaming console 20 years ago.

Not only that, one of the original creators of the game also expressed the same desire to see Crash and his friends return to the video game market.

Sony Computer Entertainment president Andrew House said that Crash Bandicoot will be available in Playstation, along wih other characters such as Spyro the Dragon and Jak and Dexter.

"We've started to say that maybe there isn't anything wrong with going back and looking at characters that people still talk about, that were a big part of either their childhood or their youth. I definitely wouldn't close the door on that," House answered when asked by Telegraph's Rhiannon Williams about reviving Crash Bandicoot for Playstation.

The Crash Bandicoot game's developer said that "it's never off the table" to revisit the Crash series, since "we still have people that worked on the Crash games in the studio. We never forget our past and it'd be great for nostalgic reasons," said Naughty Dog community strategist Arne Meyer told IGN.

From one of the best-selling platform game in 1996, Crash Bandicoot become a fallen game character due to a series of failed sequel releases, and has not been seen since.

Crash Bandicoot's co-creator Andrew Gavin also weighed in on the future of Crash Bandicoot. He said in an interview with the official Playstation Magazine:

"Crash needs a total reboot. There's an opportunity to reset the history, and go back to his creation story and the original conflict with Cortex. In that context, you could reprise classic Crash 1 and 2's settings and villains. It would make sense to use a more modern, free-roaming style. I would concentrate on Looney Tunes-esque animation and really addictive action. That's what we did with the original Crash, and there's no reason it couldn't be done today. Given the current Crash games, people forget that he was once cool. Our Crash had a certain whimsical edge to him. Sure, it was goofy - but it wasn't dumb."

License rights can be a hindrance to the reboot though, as Activision holds the rights to the game, rather than Sony or Universal Studios, who had it in the first releases of the game. Although it is rumored late last year that Sony intends to buy back Crash from Activision, the latter indicated that they "continue to explore ways in which we could bring the beloved series back to life."

Crash Bandicoot was originally released in 1996 through Sony's Playstation gaming console but was last seen in 2010 in "Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart 2."
