Fans were in a frenzy at The Hobbit 3 Comic-con panel. Who could blame them? The stars in full attendance:  Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch, Cate Blanchett, Orlando Bloom, Andy Serkis, Elijah Wood, Luke Evans, and Evangeline Lily were all present. Celebrated director Peter Jackson was also on hand.

Plus, host Stephen Colbert of Comedy Central's The Colbert Report moderated the panel, dressed as a hobbit! The self-confessed Lord of the Rings fan said that he was initially uneasy when news that his favorite Tolkien books were being made into a film. But all fears were laid to a rest after seeing the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

The Hobbit 3 Comic-con panel wasted no time in unveiling one surprise after another. First, they showed the much awaited The Hobbit 3 trailer.

Peter Jackson told audiences to get their tissues ready for the final Hobbit movie. "There's a lot of sadness and tragedy," he said to the crowd. "It's always great when you can kill off some main characters."

There were also hints that the third installment of the franchise, The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies would head towards a more serious, heavy tone. "It's not as comical as the first Hobbit movie and they're progressively getting to tone of Fellowship Of The Ring," shared Jackson.

To lighten the mood perhaps, a fantastic bloopers reel from both The Lord of The Rings and The Hobbit were also unveiled at The Hobbit 3 Comic-con session. Tolkien fans would surely go crazy once these blooper clips hit the internet.

Another big announcement, aside from The Hobbit 3 trailer, was the news that Peter Jackson might actually include previously unused Lord of the Rings footage for The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies."There are a few scenes that haven't been seen from Lord Of The Rings, but not many. We might try to put them back in," Jackson revealed. The only challenge will be getting through his footage which is seven million feet in length at Warner Bros. vaults.. "It's a big logistical thing which haven't wrapped our heads around. But if there's enough interest..."

The Hobbit 3 trailer could be released very soon online. Stay tuned to see it here.
