SpongeBob SquarePants Movie 2 Trailer Released! Release Date Moved To Avoid ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’

The Sponge Bob Square Pants Movie 2 trailer has finally been released and the title of the movie will be called The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water!

Since the start of the Nickelodeon show, the network made sure to launch a video special every five years. They also released the first ever movie in theaters in 2004. In 2009, they released a special on TV entitled, "Truth or Square."

The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water is the second feature length movie in 2015 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the massive hit show. According to the show's production team, the sequel is said to be necessary because, "In 2012 SpongeBob SquarePant's ratings dropped 29%. With Paramount Animation's new film studio, they wanted to do something about it by making this movie. It took a while for Stephen Hillenburg (Writer/executive producer of the film and creator of spongebob) to think of a story for this movie, he later said 'I think I got a plot that's worth 90 minutes.' They are basically trying to improve the show."

Some things remain the same though. SpongeBob, Patrick, Squidward, Sandy, Plankton and Mr. Krabs are still voiced by the same cast in the regular series with Tom Kenny, Rodger Bumpass, Bill Fagerbakke, Clancy Brown, Mr. Lawrence and Carolyn Lawrence.

There are some exciting stuff for fans of all ages! The sequel will show pirate, Alameda Jack, who will steal the Krabby Patty formula in one of the plot rumors doing the rounds right now. It is said that Alameda Jack will be played by Antonio Banderas, and the only way to retrieve the formula is to travel on land.

"The antagonistic pirate in the new movie is on a quest in search for the final page that is the recipe he needs for his evil plan with the 'Magic Book.' The book allows its holder to write on its pages to get whatever they want. To battle the enemy pirate, the gang gets superpowers from the same magic book. SpongeBob becomes Invincibubble, while Patrick turns into Mr. Superawsomeness, Mr. Krabs turns into Sir Pinch-a-lot, who looks similar to Iron Man and Plankton gets a Hulk-like superpower. Meanwhile, Sandy becomes a real-life squirrel, and Squidward turns into Sour Note," said reports.

The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water! is written by Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger. It is being directed by Paul Tibbit, and is set to release on Februrary 6, 2015.
