Microsoft has reached a milestone as it reached 300,000 apps in its Windows Phone Store.

According to the Microsoft spokesperson they have "more than 300,000 Windows phone apps today and the Windows Phone Store continues to grow," as quoted in a post in The Next Web.

Hitting the said milestone was never easy for Microsoft Windows as Apple and Google remain ahead.

The Windows Phone Store has started offering apps in October 2010. As of February 2013, the phone store managed to offer at least 130, 000 apps to its users. Reaching the 300,000 mark in just four years is indeed a great achievement.

While Apple reached this mark in just two years, the figures remain to be a reason to celebrate in the highly competitive market. The mobile app store is constantly keeping up the pace of the competition, anyway.

Meanwhile, Google Play started offering apps in October 2008. However, the Android Market was not mainstreamed until March 2012. Google Play reached the 300,000 mark as early as the third quarter of 2011.

Keeping a scorecard for each? Apple made it after two years. Google did it in about three years. And lastly, Microsoft attained the mark in four years.

Apple has an effective marketing strategy, but Microsoft Windows is trying to remain on the trends as well as it works to have a stable base of users while offering helpful and innovative apps through the phone store.

Apparently, Microsoft Windows store still needs to catch up to surpass the milestones of its rivals. Despite the slow development, Microsoft has recently earned a relatively stable or even accelerating growth.

In June 2012, for instance, the phone store hit 100,000, which was easily doubled in December 2013. It is expected that the number will double soon as more and more mobile phone users are appreciating the apps being sold or offered in the phone store.
