Beloved actor and comedian Robin Williams was found dead at his home near Tiburon, north of San Francisco.

Williams, who had reportedly been "battling severe depression," was 63-years-old.

Marin County Police in California stated that he was pronounced dead at his home shortly after officials responded to an emergency call around noon, according to BBC News.

"At this time, the Sheriff's Office Coroner Division suspects the death to be a suicide due to asphyxia, but a comprehensive investigation must be completed before a final determination is made," police said in a statement.

The "Good Will Hunting" actor has been open about his experience with alcohol and drug addiction in the past and had recently returned to a rehabilitation center to "fine-tune" his sobriety, according to the Los Angeles Times back in July.

Williams had three children. His wife, Susan Schneider, released a statement after news surfaced that the comedian was found dead.

"This morning, I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one of its most beloved artists and beautiful human beings. I am utterly heartbroken," stated Schneider in the statement.

She continued, "On behalf of Robin's family, we are asking for privacy during our time of profound grief. As he is remembered, it is our hope the focus will not be on Robin's death, but on the countless moments of joy and laughter he gave to millions."

Fellow actors and comedians tweeted about the death of the talented Williams.

"I can't believe the news about Robin Williams. He gave so much to so many people. I'm heartbroken," tweeted Ellen de Generes.

Actor Danny DeVito tweeted, "So sad to think about this. Hard to speak. Hard to say. Hard to take. All I can think about is what a joy he was to be with. I'm devastated. My heart is broken by this news."
