Amityville The Awakening is actually the twelfth movie to feature the internationally popular haunted house. As the stories go, paranormal entities supposedly haunted a certain family who lived in the house back in 1975. The son of the previous owner was "possessed" and started to shoot and kill his family. The history of the Amityville home builds a perfect premise for a horror movie.

True enough, it has been the topic of twelve movies, with the last big screen vision starring Ryan Reynolds back in 2005. Now, though, it looks like there is yet another Amityville horror movie to add the list, which will mark film number 12. As reported, "Amityville The Awakening is part sequel and part re-telling.

"Amityville The Awakening" aims to educate the uninformed about the alleged horrors in the past, while presenting some new haunts of its own. With fellow horror flicks, such as "Insidious" and "The Conjuring" reeling a lot of cash, it is only understandable that an Amityville horror movie will be, once again, making its way back to the spotlight.

"Amityville The Awakening" will be starring Jennifer Jason Leigh as a mother who has, unbeknownst to her at the time, made a terrible decision for a new piece of property. The new family is then schooled about the horrors that had occurred in their new house by a local high school student. Plus, Leigh's comatose son starts to show symptoms that show something more than what doctors can diagnose.

It sounds to be a pretty solid backstory for a scary Amityville horror flick. Add in the creepy children, a young girl in her teenage years, an unbelieving Kurtwood Smith, and it becomes a perfect new installment for the horror-by-the-numbers franchise. "Amityville The Awakening" will be shown on the big screens by the 2nd of January of 2015.
