Romance Cells

Can an unemployed man find love with a famous star? That's the question the fantasy web-toon "Romance Cells" asked its readers. And since the cast for a web drama version of the same story includes Jang Hyuk and Kim Woo Bin, it's likely that fans will watch to find the answer.

"Romance Cells," also called "Love Cells" or "Dating DNA" is the story of Ma Dae Choong, an unemployed man who has had no luck at dating. He falls for a top star but has no idea how to date even an ordinary woman, so dating a star is an impossible situation. Park Seon Ho, who last appeared in the weekend drama "Golden Rainbow," plays the unemployed and dateless Ma Dae Choong.

Jang Hyuk, who last played chaebol Lee Gun in "Fated To Love You," plays Ma Dae Choong's quiet but charismatic next-door neighbor. He's a martial arts expert.

Kim Woo Bin's character is described as the "king of romance." It's a fitting title for the actor who won so many hearts with his roles in the dramas "The Heirs" and "School 2013." His character may be the opposite of Ma Dae Choong as he's a master at making women fall for him.

Also dispensing romantic advice in this web drama is a cat named Nevi. Kim Yoo Jung, also seen in "Golden Rainbow" and soon to be seen in "Secret Door," will play this fantastic feline mentor.

And Ma Dae Choong will need plenty of advice. Not only has he not had a date for nine years but he does not fall for just any woman. The woman of his dreams is the attractive and popular star Seo Rin, played by 4Minute's Nam Ji Hyun.

And Ma Dae Choong also faces some tough competition. Baek Sung Hyun plays Chun Ji Woon, a handsome idol, who is in love with Seo Rin. The multi-talented idol sings, acts and composes songs, making him more than a serious threat to Ma Dae Choong's dreams of dating Seo Rin. It is an impossible romance to begin with and the competition from Baek Sung Hyun does not help.

Viewers may also benefit from the advice that Ma Dae Choong gets from everyone around him. According to the production team for "Love Cell," the web drama will offer dating stories that everyone can sympathize with.

The original web-toon was popular on the popular search portal Naver from 2010 to 2012.
