Daily Show Zayn Malik reference caused the fans of One Direction to burst in outrage. In fact, the fans were not the only ones who were mad with the statement that "The Daily Show" made regarding one of the members of today's most sought after boy band, One Direction.

Jon Stewart brought in Jessica Williams, a correspondent of "The Daily Show" onto the show to report on fake terrorist groups. They may have crossed a very serious line with the statements that they made. It was during one of the show's skits that Williams joked about a new terrorist group which included "one member each from ISIS, al-Nusra, Al Qaeda, Hamas, One Direction and the Zetas drug cartel." Although Williams did not mention Zayn Malik's name, One Direction fans are very angry and took to Twitter to express their dismay towards the show.

The comments that the people made on social media called the show out for putting such ill reference to Zayn Malik's Pakistani descent.

The famous Comedy Central show has actually been quite known for pressing the limits. However, when they called out a One Direction member for being a terrorist, throwing the band's name in alongside ISIS and Al Qaeda, even if they did not mention Zayn Malik's name in their thoughtless comments, was definitely not a good idea. In fact, it was wrong in the biggest proportions.

People posted online, "I am so disappointed with @TheDailyShow! How could they use the word 'terrorist' associated with #onedirection?" Another posted, "I watch your show, but Zayn from One Direction is very sensitive about his religion so keeps quiet about it. Apologize."

To date, none of the members of the internationally famous boy band has responded to the backlash, joke or not, that they got from "The Daily Show."
