‘The Thieves’ Lee Jung Jae As Popeye
Lee Jung Jae's character poster for Director Choi Dong Hoon's fourth film 'The Thieves' has been revealed.
'The Thieves' is the crime action movie of ten Korean and Chinese professional thieves who team up to steal the notorious hidden diamond 'Tears of the Sun' in a Macau casino.
After the character poster of Macau Park Kim Yoon Suk was revealed, the character poster of Korea's team boss Popeye, played by Lee Jung Jae, was released. Lee Jung Jae, with short hair and a mustache, transformed not only his outer appearance, but also his inner appearance shown through his mischievous gaze and expression. In addition, the caption, "That diamond is all ours," foreshadows Popeye's true intentions.
Lee Jung Jae spoke on his role, "Compared to my previous works, fully understanding the character of Popeye was very difficult. I wanted to look strong, spiteful, and cute all at the same time. I was personally greedy with this character. However, I feel as though the end results display an extremely fun character." Lee Jung Jae throws away his previous romantic appeal and puts on a bravado and mean presence as the Korean thieves' boss in this film.
The character posters of the other actors will be revealed on the 18th to the 27th. The film will premiere on July 25.
