"American Horror Story" season 4 ratings registered the "highest growth trajectory" for FX Network as Ryan Murphy's show is renewed for another season.
In a report from Deadline, "American Horror Story" season 4 ratings for the debut episode reached 10 million viewers, including 6.54 million demo viewers and 4.08 million for adults 18-34.
The encore showing hit 13.36 million viewers, including 5.25 million in the younger age bracket, which "makes it the most-watched single program in FX's 20-year history - and that includes all programs with Live+7 deliveries."
According to the website, the "American Horror Story" season 4 ratings bested the previous record holder, which is the finale season premiere episode of "Sons of Anarchy" with a total of 9.25 million viewers last September 9.
FX Networks CEO John Landgraf said: "The 'American Horror Story' anthology has had the highest growth trajectory of any show in FX history, not to mention an unprecedented track record of success in awards recognition."
"With Ryan Murphy and his partners, Brad Falchuk, Dante Di Loreto and Tim Minear at the helm, the show's success is not surprising. AHS continues to deliver amazing stories, a brilliant troupe of actors led by Jessica Lange, and a visual style unlike any other on TV," the statement added.
In light of the "American Horror Story" season 4 ratings, it's no wonder therefore that the network will renew the Ryan Murphy series for season 5, said E! News.
According to the site, season 4 will run through January 2015 and the fifth season will debut in October 2015.
"Co-creator Ryan Murphy already knows what season five will be about, teasing that star Sarah Paulson 'really loves' her character and spilling that there are Easter eggs in the first two episodes of Freak Show that hint at where it will be set," it said.
