Keanu Reeves Dreamed Playing Wolverine and Batman! 'John Wick' Actor As “The Replacement” Might Not Be Bad After All

Keanu Reeves revealed that he dreamed of playing Wolverine and Batman.

"I always wanted to play Wolverine, but I didn't get that. And they have a great Wolverine now," Reeves told Moviefone. "The Matrix" star admitted trying out for the roles but failed to get to play Wolverine.

The 50-year-old actor also confessed wanting to be The Dark Knight, but "I didn't get that one. They've had some great Batman. So now I'm just enjoying them as an audience," he added.

It's rare that we hear A-listers admitting failure to get the major roles, but not Keanu Reeves. We can also remember how he didn't mind being a second choice for a lead role and perhaps his role in the movie "The Replacement" spoke a little of his real-life character.

We all know how he made "The Matrix" trilogy a box-office hit, wherein the role of Neo was originally offered to Will Smith. Just last June, Keanu signed a deal for a courtroom drama "The Whole Truth" when "James Bond" star Daniel Craig dropped out the lead role.

In 2005, it was the first time that Keanu Reeves played a comicbook character role in the movie "Constantine" with Rachel Weisz, Tilda Swinton, Djimon Hounsou, and Shia LaBeouf. Perhaps not everybody knows that the lead role John Constantine was first attached to Nicolas Cage. But when Tarsem Singh dropped the directing, things led to Reeves to star in the movie.

It seems being a second choice is not bad at all, especially if you made the film into a box-office hit.

Keanu Reeves has recently created buzz with his latest action film "John Wick" and received many movie offers, but most of them are from independent ones. Reeves hadn't received studio offers since "The Day the Earth Stood Still" until "47 Ronin" came. When asked if it was okay not receiving studio offers, he said, "No, it sucks, but it's just the way it is."
