James Corden Dishes on Why He Thinks ‘Into the Woods’ Is So Popular; Appears on the ‘Late Show With David Letterman; Reveals His Dad Was Shocked the ‘Late Late Show’ Airs So Late

Just like thousands of fans of "Into the Woods," James Corden is also excited for the film's upcoming release this holiday season.

In fact, the actor recently shared his two cents on why he thinks the film is as popular and even weighed in on his co-star, Emily Blunt, according to Broadway World.

"For it to work, you know, I think we both realized that it's a real give-and-take between us and I think that came really naturally," he said.

When asked why he thinks the film is so popular, he explained, "It's so many people's favorite musical. Every day I feel incredibly lucky to be a part of it."

Meanwhile, Corden, who will be replacing Craig Ferguson on CBS' "Late Late Show" next year, paid a visit to David Letterman on the "Late Show With David Letterman," Deadline reported.

While there, Corden dished on what his father thought of his new gig and his reaction to his upcoming show's very late timeslot.

"Well, my dad's phone - he was genuinely so proud - like, he kind of welled up a little bit because, you know, people texting and emailing and calling. And, you know, to have your own show in America is, you know, to me is mind-blowing, let alone to my dad," he explained.

Corden's dad then asked what time his show will be on air and his reaction was just priceless, the Hollywood Reporter noted.

"I told him it's was on 12:30, and his whole face just dropped. He couldn't even comprehend that anyone would even be watching television at 12:30, let alone making television that would be on," he explained.

The funnyman added that his father was so shocked he basically repeated the phrase "12:30" at least three times.

"He was like, 'James, this sounds like a terrible idea," Corden said.
