During the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation fundraising gala last week, Robin Williams' son, Zak finally opened up about how his family is doing after his father's death in August.

The eldest Williams sibling told US Weekly that they were "doing okay."

"We're acclimating to the new normal. Everything is step by step," he shared.

Aside from remembering his comedian father, the 31-year-old also shared some of his memories about his godfather, Christopher Reeve.

Reeve, who took on the iconic Superman role in the 1970s, was Williams' roommate in Julliard and subsequently became Godfather to his best friend's first born son.

According to Fox News, Zak told the crowd at the gala that his father's friendship with the legendary actor was "nothing short of amazing."

"The Chris I spent the most time with was after the accident, and I honestly think it was after that, that my father's and [Reeve's] friendship evolved into something deeper," he continued. "It was then that Chris and Dad became family, brothers from another mother."

He further shared, "I miss them dearly, but know that they are here within all of our hearts. In my eyes, they are my superheroes. Goodness was baked into their DNA."

Remembering his dad, he said that Robin Williams had "an almost a childlike love, and he shared that love with people, with everyone."

Robin Williams' son Zak proudly added, "And that ability to love, and that ability to be generous and giving and kind is something we would want to share with future generations."

He and his wife are currently running the San Francisco office of Human Rights Watch.

Robin Williams died last August in an apparent suicide allegedly after being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.

During the gala, Robin Williams' son Zak (he has two other half siblings, Zelda and Cody) asked everyone to tell their loved ones about their love for them "at any and every opportunity."

"If they are in physical pain, tell them there is hope. If they are in mental anguish, tell them there is hope," he pleaded.
