Kobe Bryant Overtakes Michael Jordan In All Time NBA Scoring List.  Recent reports say that Kobe Bryant has overtaken Michael Jordan (32,292)'s scoring record by becoming third on the NBA scoring list. On Sunday Kobe Bryant took a couple of free throws at 5:24 time to place him at 32,293 points for his career points. The score put Bryant ahead of Jordan, putting Bryant in third spot on NBA's all time scoring list.

Despite Bryant's efforts, Jordan still holds the record for 30.1/game as a career average. Bryant averages 25.4 points/game during the season and is second to Jordan in the League.

Kobe was given the game ball by Glen Taylor, the Minnesota Timberwolves owner before to commemorate his new record over Michael Jordan. And Jordan said in a statement to AP ''I congratulate Kobe on reaching this milestone.'' Jordan added, ''He's obviously a great player, with a strong work ethic and has an equally strong passion for the game of basketball. I've enjoyed watching his game evolve over the years, and I look forward to seeing what he accomplishes next.''

As far as the scoring books go, Kobe Bryant is in the middle of two legends, Michael Jordan and Karl Malone. Now there is more of a focus on Kobe as an individual record holder vs. a Kobe-driven Los Angeles Lakers and how the current fortunes of the Lakers will play out.

Analysts considered if Kobe Bryant could surpass the record set by Kareem Abdul Jabaar going by Bryant's current average per game. And here's what the statistics say: "To pass Abdul-Jabbar, he would need to play around 239 more games, which would take Kobe into the early part of the 2017-18 season at the age of 39." And that takes into account no games missed, or a decrease in scoring.
