The Last Of Us 2 Confirmed To Be In Early Stages Of Development! Naughty Dog Admits Joel And Ellie Story Line Could Be Scrapped For TLoU 2

The Last of Us 2 is happening and it's at the early stages of development!

It comes at no surprise that Naughty Dog is looking into making a sequel for the Last of Us but the statements that they made are the ones that may be considered "shocking"

A couple of months ago, IGN reported that The Last of Us 2 has a 50/50 percent chance of happening as stated by The Last of Us creative director Neil Druckmann when he said that Naughty Dog has not yet decided if it will make a sequel to the game:

"Right now I'd say it's 50/50," said Druckmann to IGN

A few months after however, Hypable reported that the Last of Us 2 has been confirmed to be in the early stages of development as they are now setting the stage for what would happen in the sequel and it may not include Joel and Ellie at all:

"When asked if there was going to be further content for the universe Joel and Ellie live in, Creative Director Druckmann said, 'It's possible. We're playing with some ideas, but no direction has been set yet for the next game.'"

"By stating 'for the next game,' Druckmann confirmed The Last of Us 2 is in the planning process."

"Later on, Druckmann tries to cover for himself, answering 'Will you be making another The Last of Us and will it feature Joel and Ellie?' with 'Don't know yet.'" Said Mitchel Clow of Hypable.

Meanwhile, Gretchen Gable from the VG24/7 forums claimed that The Last of Us 2 plot may focus on a grown up Ellie living her life without Joel and how struggles with it. Gretchen Gable also claimed that since Ellie is going to be grown up in the Last of Us 2, Ashley Johnson could be replaced by a new voice actress.
