Reports about the Royal Family claim that the British monarchy may be wiped out before the turn of the century.

Lady Diana’s younger brother, Earl Spencer, recently shared his inside knowledge about the Royal Family.

“Earl Spencer, 50, claims that while he believes the royals are safe for now, due to the immense popularity of Prince William – the second-in-line to the throne and Duchess Catherine, he believes that Britain will soon tire of the monarchy in general,” Womansday.com reports.

“William’s popular, so the throne is secure for the next generation," Spencer said. “Maybe in 100 years things will change."

Spencer was on a U.S. tour of his new book about royal history, "Killers Of The King: The Men Who Dared To Execute Charles I" when he made the comments in an interview. He compared the current state of the monarchy to that of the past.

"Charles I’s murder brought a reduced monarchy plus the idea you could actually stand against the king," said Spencer, adding, “We went ten years without a king."

Despite the bold assumptions made by Spencer, the current state of the monarchy is upbeat. Queen Elizabeth is celebrating her diamond jubilee across England and internationally this year, making her the oldest living monarch at the age of 88, Express.co.uk reported.

Meanwhile, Kate Middleton is pregnant with the second royal baby due in April. Baby number 2 is presumed to be a sister to young Prince George and a "spare" to the throne. Kate continues to draw crowds for her taste in fashion, style and charity projects. Her recent trip to the U.S. accompanied by Prince William was successful in proving that America is still interested in Royalty. The couple continues to be popular in their recent trips to Australia and New Zealand.
