Android Updates are unpredictabl, and Samsung users have grown used to it. But to the surprise of Samsung Galaxy S4 users, the latest update problems were resolved on Friday when the Galaxy S4 Lollipop Android 5 update began rolling out. The S4 update comes days after the Galaxy Note 3 Android L update, and on the heels of a Samsung Galaxy S5 Anroid 5 Lollipop update.

It has been some time since Samsung announced Lollipop updates for the Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy S5 LTE-A, Galaxy Note 4, and the Samsung Galaxy S4. A release date in early 2015 was also mentioned.

While the Galaxy Note 4, a Samsung flagship device still operated on Android 4.4 KitKat, the Galaxy S4 has begun the Android 5.0 Lollipop update. The Samsung Galaxy S4 Lollipop rollout is also underway. However, the rollout is confined to a single variant in a specific region or country.

In Russia, Galaxy Android Lollipop updates are going out to GT-I9500. This is the international variant of the Galaxy S4. The roll out is supposedly over-the-air and it may not be available over Samsung Kies 3. There is no information about Samsung making this update a manual download, reported SamMobile, a prominent site for tracking Android updates.

"The update is version Android 5.0.1 Lollipop, a newer version of Lollipop that rolled out to Nexus users at the tail end of last year," Gottabemobile reports.

"What this means is that the update likely contains numerous bug fixes for Android 5.0 Lollipop problems, fixes that should help stabilize the software on the Samsung Galaxy S4. Galaxy S4 owners have complained about numerous Android 4.4 problems in recent months and there’s a chance that Android 5.0 will solve at least a few of them."
