Joan Rivers news reveal that the late "Fashion Police" host was awarded with the Posthumous title for Best Spoken Word Album during the recently concluded Grammy Awards 2015. According to Joan Rivers news from Us Weekly, Melissa Rivers became emotional during her acceptance speech on behalf of her iconic mother.

The award was for the late comedienne's final memoir, "Diary of a Mad Diva."

Joan Rivers' only daughter and heir to her multi-million dollar estate was emotional, but managed to put in a few jokes when she accepted the award.

"My mother would be absolutely thrilled to be here," Melissa Rivers said.

"She loved getting anything, and if she thought she could get something at a Waffle House in Secaucus she would be there."

"Honestly, my mother winning a Grammy isn't that far-fetched because she felt that comedy was music," the 46-year-old explained.

"There was a rhythm, but instead of notes there were words, and just like any of the great musicians who are here tonight, she loved to play," Melissa Rivers added.

Joined by her 14-year-old son, Cooper, Melissa Rivers thanked everyone who has been supportive since her mom's passing last Sept. 4. The comedienne and host died at the age of 81 after a botched throat operation at outpatient clinic Yorkville Endoscopy placed her in a week-long coma.

Recent Joan Rivers news reported that Melissa Rivers has already filed a high-profile medical malpractice case against the said medical facility.

After her speech, Joan Rivers' only child spoke to Giuliana Rancic, who co-starred with her mother at the hit E! series "Fashion Police."

"It's a difficult moment, it's a little bittersweet," Melissa Rivers admitted.

"(Joan) was nominated once for her comedy album, was never nominated for any of her other books and it's like, now she goes and wins. But, it's wonderful how loved she was and how she's getting so much attention now and people are really understanding what she was about."

"Most importantly about being here tonight is I wanted to be able to come on the carpet and share it with you and Kelly (Osbourne). We're family! We're the Fashion Police family," Melissa Rivers said.
