Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Duos, Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Samsung Galaxy Note Edge Get an Android 5.0.1 Lollipop Update, New Material Design

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Duos has recently gotten an Android 5.0 Lollipop update, cited GSM Arena.

According to the site, the South Korean tech giant has launched the same update for the dual SIM variants of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Duos. The variant is available only in China and Hong Kong.

The OTA update needs about 3GB free space in order to install it, as the file size is around 1GB. It is only available to the regions mentioned above and introduces the new TouchWiz launcher and optimizations.

According to the International Business Times, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge of U.S. Cellular is now offering an Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update, as well as the Galaxy Note 4 of AT&T. AT&T's Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update for Samsung Galaxy Note 4 has reportedly rolled out, with small changes and fixes. The size is only 142 MB and requires a stable Wi-Fi connection to download.

The update to AT&T's Galaxy Note 4 include Google Security Patches, the removal of Softcard, emergency dial fixes, changes to private mode setting, and the EAS fix specific to the encryption bypass, according to Android Central.

Phone Arena added that Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge from U.S. Cellular are starting to receive the Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update, as well. To install, the carrier is requiring users to have a stable Wi-Fi connection and the device should be registered into a Google account.

US Cellular wrote that the update includes a new material design, with more "fluid animations along with improved applications and personalization options," such as widgets, colors and themes. The update also has a Lock Screen notification and Smart Lock, which allows the users to unlock the device by pairing it with a "trusted device".
